    Producer Note

Domaine René Monnier is a leading and sought-after producer situated in the heart of Meursault. With over 18 hectares of vineyard in the most prestigious Crus of the Côte de Beaune, Domaine René Monnier is one of the largest privately owned domains in the region. Founded in 1723, the domain is now in the hands of the tenth generation, with all the wines being skilfully made by Xavier Monnot. Domaine René Monnier's white wines are fresh and stylish avoiding an excessive use of oak, while the reds are the epitome of fine Burgundy demonstrating the balanced, silky style of this house.

    Vineyard

The vineyards are farmed according to "La lutte raisonnée", using sustainable agriculture methods, reducing the use of chemicals in order to respect the land and its environment. The soils in the vineyard are typically marl and clay, retaining moisture in dry weather, but also offering good drainage in cooler weather.

    Winemaking

Pre-fermentation soak for 6 days, followed by 15 day maceration period. Aged in oak barrels (40% new oak) for between 12 and 16 months. Gentle filtration, no fining.

    Tasting Note

An attractive dark fruit nose with a slight touch of earthiness, is followed by brighter, brambly red fruit on the palate, underpinned by herbal notes. Concentrated and textured, silky tannins lead to a wonderfully long finish.
