Clos de la Coulée de Serrant, Savennières ”Les Vieux Clos” 6 Bottle Case 75cl

 Equivalent Bottle Price £41.00

From one of the eight monopole appellations in France. This Chenin Blanc from Les Vieux Clos grows in soils rich in schist and quartz which imparts texture, minerality and lots of ripe fruits flavours to this wine.

Grapes are hand-harvested // the picking window can sometimes stretch over a period of a couple of months, to enable the bunches to be picked only when they are ripe. The wine is aged in 500L barrels for a year.

Nicolas Joly France’s leading authority on biodynamic farming has written at least 18 books on the subject and regularly holds lectures on the topic. Indeed, his estate has been farmed this way since 1984. He is also the founder of Renaissance des Appellations. Nicolas and his daughter, Virginie, grow 7 hectares of Chenin Blanc on steep slopes of schist soils. The heritage here is rich as the vineyard was initially planted by Cistercian monks in 1130 and Louis XI and Louis XIV are said to have celebrated the wines. To this day, Nicolas and Virginie make absolutely superb wines that have outstanding ageing potential

A few must haves
