Dark ruby in the glass, this wine expresses beautiful notes of ripe forest fruit, blackberry and cherry on the nose. On the palate, it is fresh, pulpy and pleasantly savoury. The soft tannins provide structure and there is a long, balsamic finish.
Over a third of Italy’s organic vineyards are found in Sicily. The hot climate and breezy conditions mean that disease pressure in the vineyards is low, one of the reasons why many Sicilian growers have embraced organic practices. In the hills around Menfi, there are close to 1,000 hectares of organic vineyard, so it was relatively easy to select the best of these vineyards to use as the base for the Jummare wines.
