Mostly Pinot Noir with a small amount of Chardonnay aged in old oak with buttery and toasty citrus fruit flavours. Creamy, toasty, textured wine which expresses its long ageing in bottle. This is excellent value Champagne from a small, family winemaker. Lush, quite rich and with notes of toasted brioche but with that great backbone of acidity to keep it well balanced.
Based in Verzy, just 20 kilometers southeast of the capital of Champagne, Reims, Jean Paul Deville's 17 hectares of vineyards grow on a hillside, which maximises precious sun exposure in this Northern climate. This family run winery is now in its 5th generation and continue the tradition of producing wonderful champagne, which has an unusually high proportion of Pinot Noir, and prolonged ageing in bottle to add richness and texture. The winery also adheres to the VDC (Viticulture Durable en Champagne) certification. A great value, boutique Champagne from a lesser known producer.
