Hughes Beguet, Big Bunch Theory Rouge, 6 Bottle Case

Equivalent Bottle Price £24.99

From Patrice’s négoce side-project, this is Gamay from the Loire Valley, a splash of Grenache from Provence blended with a little of his own Trousseau to make a wine of crunchy berries with a hint of spritz and earthy funk.

Patrice Hughes Beguet is one of seemingly many relatively recent Jura transplants who fled desk jobs in big cities to make their home in this wild, sub-Alpine corner of France. Obviously the characterful local varieties (Savagnin, Trousseau, Poul/Plou-ssard) are a big draw for any aspiring winemakers, and Patrice handles them with all the familiarity and grace of one of the region’s stalwart producers - making dependably delicious, often experimental wines vintage-in, vintage-out.

A few must haves
