Christelle won over hearts and gained a devoted following here at Wayward last year with her pitch-perfect skin-contact Muscat 'Tierra del Itata' she made in Chile from the 2016 harvest following disastrous weather in Muscadet that wiped out her entire crop of Melon de Bourgogne. This is Christelle back on home turf, teamed up once again with Vincent Caillé and producing the wine she would've made that fateful year. Well, of course no vintage is the same and perhaps that is exactly what makes this eagerly anticipated wine so special.

Muscadet yes, but made with a finesse not always associated with this often entry-level style of wine. The Gabbro that gives the wine its name is a distinct type of igneous rock formed from long extinct volcanic activity and it is over these fertile soils the vines are planted. Naturally rich in mineral content, this taut, stony aspect somehow finds its way into the wine, itself an exercise in expressing the potential of this terroir. The wine ferments in concrete egg; a vessel that imparts a granular aspect to the wine, but also gives it an immaculately clean ferment, allowing constant movement of the liquid within and preventing any 'dead' areas. A Muscadet of uncommon texture and complexity.

A few must haves
