A light gold in colour. Scents of citrus fruits and apple. On the palate, fresh yet rich with a creamy core and forward acidity. The tannins are discreet and the finish zesty.
Domaine Ponsot was founded in 1954 by Lucien Ponsot and is situated in the village of Rully, just a few miles south of the Cote d'Or. There 8.5 hectares in all with holdings in three of Rully's 1er Cru - Molesme, Montpalais, and La Fosse. In addition Ponsot farms 2.8 hectares in the En Bas de Vauvry Monopole as well as another 0.5 ha in "Rully Village" vineyards. The estate is currently run by Jean-Baptiste Ponsot who took over in 2000. Everything is organic on the farm, the grapes are hand-harvested, no chemicals are used and only natural yeasts are employed in the cellar. Aged in old oak barrels for around 8 months, this is a rich and balanced Chardonnay with a youthful acidity.
