Domaine des Berioles, Auvernat, 6 Bottle Case, 75cl

Berioles is set in the heart of Saint Pourcain and is among the new guard who are restoring historical vineyards whilst producing clean, fresh terroir driven wines. The domaine was acquired in 1976 by Olivier Teissedre but it was not until he and his wife in 1989 stared to think about wine making. Now his son Jean is part of the family and together they farm 15 hectares of new and old vines with Jeans’s sister and brother in law.

The domaine is made up of 30% Chardonnay, 23% local variety Tressailier, 14% Gamay and 33% Pinot Noir, which here has a special clone that gives it a unique character. These are planted on the famous volcanic soil that give Saint Pourcain it unique character, and the fruit is fermented in the Benedictine cellar located in the heart of Cesset. Fermentaions are made in inox for white wines and concrete for the reds, Cuvee Tressaile is a 100% tressailler which is finished in inox tank, and Les Grand Brieres is Gamay fermented in concrete and aged for 12 months prior to bottling.
