Bannockburn is renowned for the top pinot noir sites in New Zealand and also for producing pinot noir that competes on the world stage. Compared to the Hawkshead estate pinot noir, the single vineyard Bannockburn vineyard gives a wine that is much more complex, earthy and with darker fruits. A good example of the world-class wine New Zealand is producing.
Deep ruby in colour, the Hawkshead Bannockburn pinot noir has a complex aroma of mixed summer berries, dark cherries and dark fruits. The flavours are earthy yet rich, rounded with a beautiful blend of blueberry, spices, white pepper, plum and wild thyme. The wine is restrained and precise; fine tannins give the wine a long and persistent finish.
