Cadus Chacayes Appellation Malbec 6 bottle Case 75cl

Production

Los Chacayes appellation is located in the western corner of the Tunyan district within the high altitudue Uco Valley, Mendoza. Surrounded by the peaks of the Andes mountains, it is one of the coolest areas of the valley and the vineyard experiences marked thermal amplitude and its stony, calcareous soils are irrigated by melting snow water. Winemaking methods include must draining and acidity correction. Fermentation is carried out using selected yeasts. Daily movements and pumping over with extended maceration. Malolactic fermentation. 100% ageing in French oak casks of high quality for 12 months.

Tasting notes

A wine 'of place' that really expresses the hostile growing conditions of the Uco Valley through its character and structure. On the nose this Malbec displays aromas of fresh red fruits and black fruit jam with subtle aromatic herbs. The red and black fruit flavours follow on the palate. This is best described as a linear style Malbec which has an unusual combination of spice and a boney structure. Firm tannins and a prolonged finish add to the attractiveness of this complex and sinewy wine. A hugely appealing and serious malbec.

Food match

Braised beef, slow cooked lamb casserole.
