As its name implies, this is a unique Dão red only produced in years of exceptional quality from grapes from the top vineyard plots on the Quinta dos Carvalhais estate. A Touriga Nacional-dominant blend which undergoes 18 months ageing in French oak, this wine boasts deliciously brooding black fruit intensity coupled with spice and subtle hints of pine.

The wine is deep purple in colour. On the nose it has intense aromas of blackberry, bramble and forest berries married with a smoky spiciness and hints of pine needle and forest floor. Grippy but deliciously ripe tannins and a refreshing acidity provide plenty of structure on the palate and carry the concentrated and intense flavours onto the wonderfully lingering finish,
