A family-owned estate created in 1820 in the heart of Gascony. Things began with Jean Dominique Laudet, a former spice merchant in the French Antilles who returned home to produce Armagnac. This continued till 1970, when Noël Laudet, former steward of Château Beychevelle decided to diversify and begin the production of white wines. In 2007, eight generation Cyril Laudet took over from his grandfather. Together with his wife Julie they’ve given the estate a breath of fresh air by expanding wine production and re-introducing smallbatch Armagnacs. Currently in their first year of biodynamic conversion, Château Laballe’s vineyards are located on the unique sandy soils or sables fauves of the Bas Armagnac.
